By Resolution dated April 11, 1972, The Board of Commissioners created the Advisory Recreation Committee for the Township of Upper Moreland to advise and aid the Board in connection with the Township's recreation program in the community.  By Resolution dated April 3, 1989, the Board of Commissioners approved the name change of the "Recreation Advisory Council" to the "Parks and Recreation Advisory Council".  By Resolution dated February 3, 1992, the Board of Commissioners approved amending to increase the membership of the Council from seven to fourteen members, being two from each of the seven wards in the Township.  The Board of Commissioners felt that the function of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Council (PRAC) could be further enhanced by enlarging the membership of the committee by two additional at-large members.  

The PRAC is comprised of one member from each ward and eight at-large members, and meet the 2nd Tuesday of every other month.
