Upper Moreland Township Launches Local Local Government Channels

Upper Moreland Television, UMTV, began broadcasting on Monday, December 10, 2007. This new government information channel is dedicated to providing news and information related to Upper Moreland Township government services and events to residents. It will also be used to publicize community events and to provide public service and emergency announcements. In January 2008, UMTV began broadcasting all meetings of the Board of Commissioners on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 10:00 AM and 7:30 PM. All Board of Commissioners meetings including Regular Meetings and Committee Meetings are available on UMTV to subscribers of Comcast Cable on channel 965 and subscribers of Verizon FIOS on channel 41. These channels are available through digital cable. Commissioners meetings are also posted on the Township website, www.uppermoreland.org, for viewing.

About Our Township
Township Information

Upper Moreland Township occupies an area of 7.5 square miles in the northeastern corner of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The 2000 census reported a total population of 24,993. Upper Moreland is part of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area and is approximately 15 miles north of downtown Philadelphia. The Township is bordered by the Montgomery County communities of Hatboro, Upper Dublin, Abington, Bryn Athyn, and Lower Moreland while Bucks County lies to the north.

General Information and Guidelines
Code Enforcement

If you are planning any kind of home remodeling project, or thinking of retaining a contractor to do work for you, please keep the following regulations in mind. The Township's guidelines are based on national standards to help ensure that repairs, additions, and alterations are done safely, whether by homeowners or contractors. If you are unsure if a permit is required, please take the time to call the Code Enforcement Department, at (215) 659-3100, for assistance before beginning work. Fines can be issued for any work begun prior to the issuance of the permits required.

Police Benevolent Association
Police Department

The Upper Moreland Township Police Benevolent Association (UMTPBA) is a non-profit organization which was formed in late 1997 by the sworn officers of Upper Moreland Police.

Recreation Leagues
Parks & Recreation

The Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of leagues for adults age 18 and over. We accept team registrations, but will place individuals on availability listing should teams need players. Team fees are due in full prior to the seasons start. During the spring/summer season we provide Men's, Women's, and Co-ed Adult Softball Leagues. Games are played at various locations within the Township and on specific nights of the week. All games are officiated by quality Amateur Softball Officials.

Treasurer's Report

This monthly Treasurer's Report is a summary of receipts and expenditures only. A complete Financial Statement is prepared and available for public review in the Township's Finance Office.
