New Procedures for Collection of Trash, Recyclables, Organic Yard Waste
NEW IN 2018 - ALL Recyclables may now be mixed together for collection by the Public Works Department IF they are placed curbside in a container that is not larger than 50 gallons in capacity and does not weigh more than 50 pounds when full: glass bottles, plastics #1-#7, tin/aluminum cans AND paper products all can now be placed in the same container. This is called “Single Stream Recycling” which provides for both a more efficient disposal and collection process. Residents can also continue to put their recycling out as they do now with no changes. It will be picked up by 1 truck.
Upper Moreland Township is a first class Township dedicated to recycling and waste reduction. Our residential trash and recycling operations target both environmentally responsible and cost effective programs designed to preserve resources for the future. Yard waste is picked up on Mondays. Seasonally, leaf vacuuming is also possible, see Upper Moreland Township Leaf Zones Map (PDF). Any one of these trucks could show up at your curbside as early as 6:30 a.m. Recycling is required by both State and Municipal law. Failure to recycle properly can result in fines or discontinuation of service.
Should you have any questions, call the Public Works Department at 215-659-4070 between 6:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.
