The Human Relations Commission of Upper Moreland Township (HRC) promotes the inherent dignity and worth of all people, striving to ensure that all in our Community enjoy equality and equal protection under the law. The recent act of vandalism at the Upper Moreland School District Elementary complex, which included painting a swastika and sexual depictions on the Primary School's outer wall and playground equipment, attempted to promote hate and division in Upper Moreland Township. Hate, discrimination, and harassment have no place in our Community. The HRC stands with our school district and the UMPD to bring those involved to justice.
On Monday, March 17, 2025, an 18-year-old Upper Moreland resident was arraigned on charges relating to the vandalism of the Upper Moreland Elementary School and adjacent properties earlier this month.
Charges include multiple counts of institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, defiant trespass, simple trespass, and possession of an instrument of crime. The Human Relations Commission wishes to thank Upper Moreland Police Department and the Upper Moreland Township School District for their investigation and the community for their help in identifying the offender.
The HRC was created in 2019 by the Upper Moreland Board of Commissioners to provide assistance to those who believe they were harassed or discriminated against in housing, employment, and public accommodations. Please contact the Human Relations Commission for assistance and additional information.
