EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT 

Upper Moreland Township

Examination - Firefighter/EMT

The Upper Moreland Township Fire Department, on behalf of the Upper Moreland Township Civil Service Commission, will be conducting a written examination for Firefighter/EMT on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Upper Moreland Fire Department, 227 Davisville Road, Willow Grove, PA  19090.  Each person who submits a completed application shall report for registration at 6:00 P.M. on the day of the written test.  When reporting for the examination, each candidate MUST bring photo identification. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR TESTING:

U.S. or naturalized citizen of the U.S. High School Graduate or equivalent. At least 21 years of age by date application is due.  Have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.  Certified as Firefighter I and II.  Certified by Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Technician - P. Certified as Driver/Operator/Pumper NFPA 1002, Haz Mat  Ops. NFPA 472, and PA VOH Vehicle Rescue Technician. Be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of a Firefighter/EMT.

REQUIRED RESIDENCY:

Within one year of employment:   (20) Mile radius north of or (12) mile radius south of the Willow Grove interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Applications are available at the Upper Moreland Township Building located at 117 Park Avenue, Willow Grove, PA  19090, Monday through Friday 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M.  Completed applications must be received or postmarked no later than 4:30 P.M. Monday March 3, 2025.  A $25.00 administration fee will be charged for each applicant.  A check or money order must be made payable to Upper Moreland Township.

Applicants passing the written testing with a 70% or greater will undergo a Physical Agility Test on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Abington Public Safety Annex, 2200 Florie Lane, Abington, PA  19001.

SUMMARY OF SELECTION PROCESS:

Application must be submitted before 4:30PM, Monday, March 3, 2025.

Written Test, 70% or greater and top 30 scores to continue (40% of overall score).

Physical Agility Test- Pass/Fail.

Bonus points-Based on training, education and experience (30% of overall score).

Oral Interview (30% of overall score).

Awarding of Veterans points.

Background Investigation.

Conditional Offer of Employment.

Medical and Psychological Exam. Pass/Fail.
