Mining Back in the Day!
Our February speaker will be Ronald Sloto. Ronald is the curator of the West Chester University mineral collection and conducts research on the mineralogy of southeastern Pennsylvania. He worked for the U.S. Geological Survey for 41 years. He has also written a book, The Mines and Minerals of Chester County. He will be talking about the local geology of the region and what economic minerals are found here, as well as the early mining activities of southeastern Pennsylvania, and its influence on the Philadelphia economy.
