Upper Moreland Township's Board of Commissioners and Township Manager Matthew Candland, announce Edward Glassman as Upper Moreland Township’s new Fire Chief. Chief Glassman will begin his employment with Upper Moreland Township on Monday, January 3, 2022.
Glassman, will fill the newly created position of Fire Chief. Chief Glassman brings a wealth of experience. During his thirty-year career in fire service, he worked for City of Camden from 1986– 2020; he began his career as a police officer for the City of Camden and served in this role from 1986 – 1991, in 1991 he became a Firefighter and served out his career where he gained experience in his service as Firefighter, Fire Captain, Battalion Fire Chief and Deputy Fire Chief/Emergency Management Coordinator. Chief Glassman retired from City of Camden after 34 years of service.
Since his retirement, he has been working as an Emergency Management Specialist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In addition, Chief Glassman has 20 years of service as a volunteer Firefighter in Glouster City, New Jersey. Chief Glassman graduated from Neumann University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration. Later he earned a Master of Administrative Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In addition to numerous other educational attainments and training in the fire service, Chief Glassman is a certified Emergency Manager and has his FEMA Professional Development and Advance Professional Development Certifications.
Asked to provide a statement about his new role, Chief Glassman, stated, “I am honored to be selected as the new Fire Chief and I am excited to be part of the great team providing fire services to Upper Moreland Township. I appreciate the confidence that the Board of Commissioners and Township Manager Matt Candland have in me. I want to build a strong organization to serve the needs of the community. I look forward to serving the businesses and citizens of Upper Moreland and hope to speak to all of you soon.”
