[ARCHIVED] Police Officer Andrew Clauhs Promoted to Sergeant

At the May 3, 2021 Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Upper Moreland Township, Police Officer Andrew Clauhs was promoted to Sergeant of the Upper Moreland Township Police Department.

Sergeant Clauhs enlisted with the Upper Moreland Township Police Department on March 3, 2014. Prior to being hired by the Upper Moreland Township Police Department, Sergeant Clauhs attended and graduated from the Delaware County Police Academy in June 2008. Drew was hired and worked as a part time police officer with the Upland Borough Police Department in Delaware County, PA. and in October 2008, was hired full time by the Chester County Sheriff’s office where he served as a Deputy Sheriff in the court, transportation, and emergency medical response divisions.

Upon his hire with the Upper Moreland Township Police Department, Drew was assigned to the patrol division after completing his field training program. In addition to his patrol division responsibilities, he is a taser instructor, bicycle patrol officer and became a member of the Montgomery County SWAT East Region in 2016, serving with the breaching element and recently promoted to assistant team leader. Drew also serves as armorer within the police department.

Sergeant Clauhs enlisted with the PA Army National Guard as a cavalryman in August of 2009 and has served in many leadership roles within the National Guard including commander of Humvee and Bradley Vehicle brigades along with leading fireteams, squads, and sections as an NCO. In 2012, Drew was deployed to Kuwait where he was responsible for security operations from October 2012 through September of 2013. Drew will complete his current enlistment in August 2021 providing exemplary service to our state and nation.

Sergeant Clauhs also served as a volunteer firefighter in Chester County and obtained is EMT certification in 2004 and holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the Delaware County Community College.

Sergeant Clauhs assists with scouting organizations throughout our area, is a bicycle rider with Chapter 9 of the Police Unity Tour, assisting with support for fallen police officers throughout our country. Drew also rides with the Road Dawgs in the MS 150 cycling fundraiser supporting the cure for MS.

Sergeant Clauhs is married and the father of three children.
