[ARCHIVED] Reminder to Clear Snow and Ice from Sidewalks

The Upper Moreland Township Police Department wishes to remind all residents and business owners that they are required to clear snow and ice from their sidewalks within 48 hours after the snow, sleet or freezing rain has ceased. Where ice or snow is frozen on the sidewalk or ice forms on the sidewalk, it shall be the owner’s responsibility to remove or cover with sand or salt.

Property and homeowners in the removal of snow and ice shall not place or cause to be placed in or upon any street, avenue, or highway the removed snow.

The above is governed by Upper Moreland Township Ordinance Chapter 290-1 Removal of Snow and Ice. Violation of the aforementioned ordinance may result in fines of not less than $100.00 and not to exceed $300.00 imposed by the local Magisterial District Justice.

Please be considerate and shovel your sidewalks to ensure safe pedestrian travels.  Thank you!
